Box Build Assembly & System Integration Scope

Box build extends the project beyond a populated PCB into an enclosure or larger assembly. Define the boundary between board assembly, mechanical integration, wiring and final product test.

Release the complete system package

Include enclosure drawings, cable and harness specifications, connectors, fasteners, labels and assembly instructions. Identify torque values or locking methods when required by the design. Supply a system BOM that distinguishes purchased subassemblies from custom parts.

Check fit and build sequence

Board mounting, cable routing, connector access and thermal interfaces should be reviewed before the full batch. State whether a first integrated unit needs approval. Mechanical substitutions can affect clearances, serviceability and safety, so control them with the same discipline as electronic component substitutions.

Define a finished unit

Specify firmware, configuration, labeling, accessories, packaging and the final test procedure. Identify pass/fail limits and what test data must be retained. Board-level testing alone does not establish that wiring, enclosure connections and the complete product function correctly.
